Leave Ulaanbaatar behind and cross the open steppe to the sculpted limestone escarpment of Tsagaan Suvarga. Walk among colorful sedimentary layers formed by an ancient seabed and watch the Gobi change color in the evening light.
Overnight Khulan Gobi camp
Explore the red sandstone cliffs where the world's first dinosaur eggs were discovered. Hear the story of Roy Chapman Andrews, wander through native saxaul forest, and finish the day with traditional khorkhog.
Overnight Ger tourist camp
Meet a local camel-herding family at the edge of Mongolia's highest dunes. Ride a Bactrian camel, learn about desert life, and climb the singing sands for a sunset that stretches across the Gobi.
Overnight Camel herder family
Travel into the cool, dramatic gorge of Yol Valley. Explore on foot or horseback between the high rock walls and look for bearded vultures, ibex, and the surprising alpine life of the desert.
Overnight Tourist camp or hotel
Turn north through the Middle Gobi to the granite formations of Baga Gazriin Chuluu. Stretch your legs among rocky valleys and ancient ruins before completing the journey back in Ulaanbaatar.
